If you plan on leaving your tent up during the winter it is recommended you have rafters every 2 feet to handle snow loads. Houses have rafters every 2 feet for snow loads also. Fly is strongly recommended. Snow and water runs off the smooth poly surface much better than a canvas roof. Some of my customers stack hay bales along the outside wall for insulation and to blunt any strong
